L’église de Sorigny abrite un vitrail figurant trois scènes de la vie de saint Martin. Ce vitrail a été réalisé par Lobin à Tours en 1865.

Le registre inférieur représente saint Martin accueilli par saint Hilaire de Poitiers. Saint Martin figure nimbén avec une cape rouge, tenant un livre dans la main droite, debout devant saint Hilaire, assis, représenté en évêque, nimbé et mitré, portant sa crosse le long de son bras gauche, la main droite faisant le geste de la bénédiction. Trois personnes se tiennent derrière saint Martin.

Le registre central représente saint Martin forçant la porte de l’empereur Valentinien. Saint Martin figure en moine, nimbé, suivi de trois disciples.

Le registre supérieur représente saint Martin rachetant des prisonniers à un soldat. Saint Martin figure en moine, nimbé, avec deux prisonniers ayant les poings liés. Le soldat est vêtu en vert et porte une cape rouge. Saint Martin est accompagné d’un disciple en prière.

Les disciples représentés dans ce vitrail sont Sévère et Gallus.

 

 

L’église de Sorigny abrite également un vitrail figurant une charité de saint Martin. Ce vitrail a été réalisé par Julien Fournier en 1886. Ce vitrail a été offert à la paroisse par Madame Auger-Archambault, en  souvenir des membres de sa famille.

Saint Martin figure en cavalier romain, nimbé. Il monte un cheval sombre, et coupe son manteau afin de le partager avec un pauvre. Le pauvre est assis sur la neige, il est à demi nu, il porte du petit bois sur le dos. En arrière plan on voit d’autres cavaliers sortir par la porte de la ville d’Amiens. La scène se déroule en hiver, on peu voir sur le sol les empreintes des chevaux dans la neige.

Au registre inférieur sont représentées une scène où saint Martin évêque bénit des enfants et une scène où il bénit l’eucharistie.

 

The church in Sorigny has a stained glass window depicting three scenes from the life of Saint Martin. The window was made by Lobin in Tours in 1865.

The lower register shows Saint Martin being welcomed by Saint Hilaire of Poitiers. Saint Martin is shown in a nimbus with a red cape, holding a book in his right hand, standing before Saint Hilaire, seated, represented as a bishop, nimbed and mitred, carrying his crosier along his left arm, his right hand making the gesture of blessing. Three people stand behind Saint Martin.

The central register shows Saint Martin forcing open the door of the Emperor Valentinian. Saint Martin is shown as a monk, wearing a nimbus, followed by three disciples.

The upper register shows St Martin buying prisoners from a soldier. Saint Martin is shown as a monk, nimbed, with two prisoners with bound fists. The soldier is dressed in green and wears a red cloak. Saint Martin is accompanied by a disciple at prayer.

The disciples represented in this window are Severus and Gallus.

The church in Sorigny also has a stained glass window depicting the charity of Saint Martin. This window was made by Julien Fournier in 1886. The window was donated to the parish by Mrs Auger-Archambault, in memory of her family members.

Saint Martin is shown as a Roman horseman, wearing a nimbus. He rides a dark horse and cuts off his cloak to share it with a poor man. The poor man is sitting on the snow, half naked, carrying firewood on his back. In the background we see other horsemen riding out of the city gate of Amiens. The scene takes place in winter, and the footprints of the horses in the snow can be seen on the ground.

In the lower register, there is a scene in which St. Martin the bishop is blessing children and a scene in which he is blessing the Eucharist.
