Le séminaire de Szombathely, fondé par le premier évêque de la ville, János Szily, a deux représentation de saint Martin, une dans la petite chapelle, datant de la fin du XVIIIe siècle, au dessus du maître autel, figurant à gauche une charité de saint Martin, où le saint figure debout, en soldat romain, en train de couper son manteau avec son glaive. De l’autre côté, nous voyons saint Martin, toujours en soldat, mais ayant retirer son casque, dort, et voit dans son sommeil le Christ revêtu de sa moitié de manteau.

L’autre représentation se trouve dans un salon, date du XXe siècle et figure plusieurs moments de la vie de saint Martin : La Charité d’Amiens au centre, le baptême de sa mère à la fontaine à  gauche, saint Martin évêque avec les oies et des personnes agenouillées priant à ses pieds. En arrière-plan, saint Martin ressuscite un mort et à droite figure la mort de saint Martin.

 

The seminary in Szombathely, founded by the town’s first bishop, János Szily, has two representations of Saint Martin, one in the small chapel, dating from the late 18th century, above the main altar. On the left is a Charity of Saint Martin, in which the saint is shown standing as a Roman soldier, cutting off his cloak with his sword. On the other side, we see Saint Martin, still in the guise of a soldier, but having removed his helmet, sleeping, and in his sleep he sees Christ clad in half his cloak.

The other representation is in a living room and dates from the 20th century. It depicts several moments in the life of Saint Martin: La Charité d’Amiens in the centre, the baptism of his mother at the fountain on the left, Saint Martin the bishop with geese and people kneeling and praying at his feet. In the background, Saint Martin is raising a dead man from the dead and on the right is the death of Saint Martin.
