L’abbatiale de la Sainte-Trinité de Fécamp abrite trois représentations de Saint-Martin. Tout d’abord une fresque d’Henri-Georges Charrier (1859-1950) figurant saint Martin en soldat romain, casqué et nimbé, en train de couper sa cape rouge. Puis, dans la chapelle Saint-Martin, une statue de la charité de saint Martin où le saint est représenté dans des habits du XVIe siècle (le mendiant a été volé au XXIe siècle), et une messe miraculeuse de saint Martin, sur le retable.

Il existait également à Fécamp une léproserie Saint-Martin, dont nous avons une trace dans un arrêt du parlement du 5 novembre 1549 et qui faisait partie de l’exemption des bénéfices dont jouissait l’abbaye de Fécamp.

 

The Abbey Church of the Holy Trinity in Fécamp is home to three depictions of Saint Martin. Firstly, a fresco by Henri-Georges Charrier (1859-1950) depicting Saint Martin as a Roman soldier, helmeted and nimbed, cutting off his red cape. Then, in the Saint-Martin chapel, there is a statue of Saint Martin’s charity, depicting the saint in 16th-century clothes (the beggar was stolen in the 21st century), and a miraculous mass of Saint Martin on the altarpiece.

There was also a Saint-Martin leprosarium in Fécamp, of which we have a trace in a parliamentary ruling of 5 November 1549 and which was part of the exemption from benefits enjoyed by the abbey of Fécamp.
