L’église Saint-Martin de Saint-Ignat est, à l’origine, une chapelle construite dans l’enceinte du château seigneurial. Il ne reste de cette chapelle que les tourelles de part et d’autre du clocher. La nef est construite dans le style gothique au XIVe et XVe siècle. Le chœur, les chapelles latérales sud et le clocher sont construits au XIXe siècle, sous la cure du père Saignol (1830-1879).

L’église est tenue par des prêtres communalistes du XVe siècle à la Révolution française, et le curé était nommé par l’abbé de Cluny.

The church of Saint-Martin de Saint-Ignat was originally a chapel built within the walls of the seigniorial castle. All that remains of this chapel are the turrets on either side of the bell tower. The nave was built in the Gothic style in the 14th and 15th centuries. The choir, the south side chapels and the bell tower were built in the 19th century, under the curacy of Father Saignol (1830-1879).

The church was run by communal priests from the 15th century to the French Revolution, and the parish priest was appointed by the abbot of Cluny.
