L’église Saint-Martin de Le Vilhain a été construite entre le XIIe et le XIIIe siècle, par les Templiers selon la tradition locale, afin de défendre le château de Bourbon-l’Archambault. Elle appartenait à un couvent fortifié qui aurait été la propriété des Templiers.

La nef a deux travées est flanquée de bas-côtés et date de l’église primitive, l’abside à cinq pans est construite au XIVe siècle.

The church of Saint-Martin de Le Vilhain was built between the 12th and 13th centuries, by the Templars according to local tradition, to defend the castle of Bourbon-l’Archambault. It belonged to a fortified convent which would have been the property of the Templars.

The two-bay nave is flanked by aisles and dates from the early church, the five-sided apse was built in the 14th century.
