L’église de Colombiers était le siège d’un prieuré dépendant de l’abbaye de Déols (Indre).

Il s’agit d’une église à un vaisseau , voûtée d’ogives et décorée de peintures et de sculptures.

De l’ église du 12e siècle, il ne reste que le portail d’ entrée ; la nef et la 1ère travée du chœur sont du 13e siècle ; la 2e travée du chœur et la tour ont été remaniées au 15e siècle ; la partie supérieure de la tour a été reconstruite et l’escalier en vis d’accès au clocher remanié au 4e quart du 18e siècle.

L’église abrite deux tableaux : L’Adoration des bergers, peint par Pinardeau au 17e siècle et La guérison d’un infirme par les apôtres Pierre et Jean, peint par Ernest-Francis Vacherot au milieu du 19e siècle.

 

The church of Colombiers was the seat of a priory dependent on the abbey of Deols (Indre).

It is a one-ship church, rib-vaulted and decorated with paintings and sculptures.

Of the 12th century church, only the entrance portal remains; the nave and the first choir bay are from the 13th century; the second choir bay and the tower were remodelled in the 15th century; the upper part of the tower was rebuilt and the spiral staircase leading to the bell tower was remodelled in the 4th quarter of the 18th century.

The church houses two paintings: The Adoration of the Shepherds, painted by Pinardeau in the 17th century, and The Healing of a Cripple by the Apostles Peter and John, painted by Ernest-Francis Vacherot in the mid-19th century.
