L’église Saint-Martin de Béthisy-Saint-Martin est mentionnée dans l’acte de donation des biens de Saint-Pierre de Béthisy par Charles le Chauve à l’abbaye Notre-Dame-de-Morienval en 907.

Il ne reste rien de cette première église. La plus ancienne partie de l’actuel édifice est la seconde voûte d’ogives qui date de la moitié du XIIe siècle. Le chœur est agrandi au XIIIe siècle et l’édifice devient gothique. L’agrandissement de l’église est interrompue par la guerre de Cent Ans et reprend à la fin du XVe siècle par l’installation des voûtes dans un style gothique flamboyant.

L’édifice connaît plusieurs campagnes d’agrandissement et de réparations jusqu’au XIXe siècle. Elle est classée aux Monuments Historiques par arrêté du 24 septembre 1931. PA00114526.

The church of Saint-Martin de Béthisy-Saint-Martin is mentioned in the deed of donation of the property of Saint-Pierre de Béthisy by Charles the Bald to the abbey of Notre-Dame-de-Morienval in 907.

Nothing remains of this first church. The oldest part of the present building is the second ribbed vault which dates from the middle of the 12th century. The choir was extended in the 13th century and the building became Gothic. The expansion of the church was interrupted by the Hundred Years’ War and resumed at the end of the 15th century with the installation of vaults in the flamboyant Gothic style.

The building underwent several enlargement and repair campaigns until the 19th century. It was classified as a Historic Monument by decree on 24 September 1931. PA00114526.
