L’église Saint-Martin de Bergues est construite entre la deuxième moitié du IXe siècle et le début du Xe siècle par le comte de Flandres Baudouin II. Elle est remaniée au XVe siècle et au XVIIe siècle. Incendiée en 1940, elle est détruite en 1944 par les Allemands, alors que les Alliés font le siège de la ville. L’église est reconstruite en 1959, en gardant les quelques parties de l’ancienne église encore débout, notamment le chœur.

L’église abrite un vitrail figurant une charité de saint Martin.

L’église donne son nom au quartier Saint-Martin de Bergues.

The church of Saint-Martin in Bergues was built between the second half of the 9th century and the beginning of the 10th century by the Count of Flanders Baldwin II. It was redesigned in the 15th and 17th centuries. It was burnt down in 1940 and destroyed in 1944 by the Germans, while the Allies were laying siege to the town. The church was rebuilt in 1959, keeping the few parts of the old church still standing, notably the choir.

The church has a stained glass window showing a charity of Saint Martin.

The church gives its name to the Saint-Martin district of Bergues.
