La fresque murale de la petite église d’Elmelund au Danemark présente une charité encore bien visible même si le pauvre est  déjà quelque peu effacé. le jeune cavalier rencontre le pauvre assis sur un grabat de fortune devant le cheval et le partage du manteau s’effectue sans torsion du corps.

Saint Martin occupe une place non négligeable dans les décors des églises danoises , décors redécouverts après avoir été recouverts de plâtre par les protestants voulant cacher les décors dont ils avaient hérités.
