Église fondée au 9e siècle, érigée en collégiale en 1171 ; distincte de Notre-Dame-de-Consolation, attestée au 6e siècle ; l’ensemble est limité au sud et à l’est par le chemin de ronde des remparts gallo-romains . Elle fut construite pour abriter la châsse du saint venu au secours de sa ville lors de l’assaut des normands.

Tout l’ensemble formé par l’église et  les bâtiments annexes sont  en ruines au 18e siècle  et le chapitre fut rattaché à celui   de la cathédrale de Tours en 1742 ; destruction de l’église vers 1787 ; à partir de 1838, construction d’un orphelinat pour la congrégation de la Sainte-Famille-de-Bordeaux
L’ensemble est aujourd’hui totalement détruit, ne subsiste qu’une plaque commémorative.

 

Church founded in the 9th century, erected as a collegiate church in 1171; distinct from Notre-Dame-de-Consolation, attested in the 6th century; the ensemble is limited to the south and east by the walkway of the Gallo-Roman ramparts. It was built to house the shrine of the saint who came to the rescue of his town during the Norman assault.

The whole complex formed by the church and the annex buildings was in ruins in the 18th century and the chapter was attached to that of Tours Cathedral in 1742; destruction of the church around 1787; from 1838, construction of an orphanage for the congregation of the Sainte-Famille-de-Bordeaux
Today, the complex is completely destroyed, with only a commemorative plaque remaining.
