L’église Saint-Martin de Salles est fondée au XIIe siècle sur une terre donnée aux bénédictins par le seigneur de Beaujeu en 960. Bâtie sur un plan en croix latine, le clocher du XIIe siècle surmonte la croisée des transepts.

Un prieuré est également construit, avec une salle capitulaire, un dortoir, un parloir, un cellier et une cantine.

L’église conserve une statue figurant saint Martin ainsi qu’un vitrail, à droite d’un Christ en gloire, dans l’abside.

L’église est classée aux Monuments historiques en 1862. PA79000010

The church of Saint-Martin de Salles was founded in the 12th century on land given to the Benedictines by the Lord of Beaujeu in 960. Built on a Latin cross plan, the 12th century bell tower surmounts the transepts.

A priory was also built, with a chapter house, a dormitory, a parlour, a cellar and a canteen.

The church retains a statue of St Martin and a stained glass window to the right of a Christ in glory in the apse.

The church was listed as a Monument Historique in 1862. PA79000010
