La première mention de l’église Saint-Martin de Lézigneux se trouve dans le cartulaire de Savigny (dont il ne reste qu’une copie du XVIe siècle). Elle est aussi mentionnée en 1153 dans le cartulaire d’Ainay. En 1662, elle est mentionnée sous le vocable de Notre-Dame dans une visite pastorale.

L’église est agrandie en 1862 suite au rattachement de la ville de Lézigneux avec La Rivière-en-Lavieu.

L’église actuelle est construite au XVe siècle. Elle est composée d’une nef a trois travées, avec des bas-côtés. Le clocher couvre la dernière travée du bas-côté sud.

The first mention of the church of Saint-Martin de Lézigneux is found in the cartulary of Savigny (of which only a 16th century copy remains). It is also mentioned in 1153 in the cartulary of Ainay. In 1662, it is mentioned under the name of Notre-Dame in a pastoral visit.

The church was enlarged in 1862 when the town of Lézigneux joined with La Rivière-en-Lavieu.

The present church was built in the 15th century. It is composed of a nave with three bays, with side aisles. The bell tower covers the last bay of the south aisle.
