Saint Perpet, évêque de Tours fait construire un lieu de culte en 470. L’église est mentionnée dans une charte dès 862. Ce bâtiment est constitué d’une seule nef dont le mur nord est la partie la plus ancienne, datant du XIè siècle. En haut de la nef, une fenêtre à meneaux flamboyants, restaurée, porte un vitrail représentant saint Jean prêchant. La porte en arc brisé perce la façade. Elle date du XIIIè ou XVIè siècle. Le clocher fut construit au XVIIIè siècle. L’église est terminée à l’est par un chevet plat refait au XVIè siècle.

Cet ancien prieuré de Marmoutier est devenue une aumônerie au XVIe siècle. ce fut une châtellenie relevant des seigneurs de Chateau-Renault jusqu’au 1596 puis du Mortier.

Sur l’une des fenêtres de l’église se trouve une verrière où sont représenté des scènes de la vie de saint Martin (cf. fiche des scènes de la vie de saint Martin, église saint Martin, Monnaie).

Saint Perpet, bishop of Tours, had a place of worship built in 470. The church is mentioned in a charter from 862. The building consists of a single nave, the oldest part of which is the north wall, dating from the 11th century. At the top of the nave, a restored flamboyant mullioned window bears a stained glass window depicting St John preaching. The door with a pointed arch pierces the façade. It dates from the 13th or 16th century. The bell tower was built in the 18th century. The church ends on the east side with a flat chevet rebuilt in the 16th century.

This former priory of Marmoutier became a chaplaincy in the 16th century. It was a châtellenie under the lords of Chateau-Renault until 1596 and then of Mortier.
