L’église Saint-Genest de Sonzay abrite un vitrail représentant saint Martin. Il est signé U-Gaudron et E-Lobin, et a été réalisé à Tours en 1924. Saint Martin est représenté nimbé, avec une grande barbe blanche, vêtu d’une robe de bure blanche surmontée d’une chasuble dorée. Il a les mains levées vers le ciel. En dessous est écrit « St MARTINE TURON. EP. ORA PRO NOBIS ». Dans le registre inférieur, un blason est accompagné d’une banderole sur laquelle est écrit : « Offrande A.M.D.G. ». Ce vitrail est à gauche d’un vitrail figurant saint Joseph et Jésus enfant.

L’église Saint-Genest abrite également une statue de saint Martin. La statue est en hauteur, elle est colorée. Saint Martin est représenté en évêque. Ici, il tient la crosse de l’évêque de la main droite et non pas de la gauche. De sa main gauche, saint Martin tient un livre. Sur le socle, on peut y lire « St Martin ».

 

The church of Saint-Genest in Sonzay has a stained glass window representing Saint Martin. It is signed U-Gaudron and E-Lobin, and was made in Tours in 1924. ORA PRO NOBIS ». In the lower register, a coat of arms is accompanied by a banner on which is written: « Offrande A.M.D.G. ». This window is to the left of a window depicting St Joseph and Jesus as a child.

The church of Saint-Genest also houses a statue of Saint Martin. The statue is high and coloured. Saint Martin is represented as a bishop. Here he is holding the bishop’s crook in his right hand instead of his left. In his left hand, Saint Martin is holding a book. On the plinth it says « St Martin ».
