Le nom de saint Martin est accolée à la ville de Boscherville au XIXe siècle pour la différencier d’une autre commune du même nom.  La commune avait une église Saint-Martin mais celle-ci fut délaissée durant la Révolution française puis fut détruite.

L’abbatiale Saint Georges-de-Boscherville abrite un vitrail dans le chœur figurant une charité de saint Martin. Ce vitrail, offert par monsieur et madame Edouard Levasseur le 16 septembre 1866. Saint Martin est représenté sur son cheval, en train de couper le manteau pour le donner au mendiant. Saint Martin est nimbé, porte un vêtement rouge, avec un manteau jaune. Le mendiant est assis, porte un pagne rouge et une béquille. En arrière-plan, on voit les murs de la ville d’Amiens.

L’abbatiale Saint Georges-de-Boscherville abrite également une statue de 1914 figurant saint Martin évêque. Cette statue est située à la droite de l’entrée de l’église et saint Martin est représenté mitré, barbu, tenant un livre dans sa main droite. La statue est signé « La statue religieuse Paris ». Sur le socle est écrit « IN HONOREM B. MARTINI EPISC. LOCI HUJUS PATRONI PER PAROCHIALEM COLLECTAM ANNO MDCCCCXIV ».

 

The name of Saint Martin was attached to the town of Boscherville in the 19th century to differentiate it from another commune of the same name. The commune had a church of Saint Martin but this was abandoned during the French Revolution and then destroyed.

The abbey church of Saint Georges-de-Boscherville has a stained glass window in the choir depicting the charity of Saint Martin. This stained glass window was donated by Mr and Mrs Edouard Levasseur on 16 September 1866. Saint Martin is represented on his horse, cutting the cloak to give it to the beggar. Saint Martin is nimbed, wearing a red garment, with a yellow coat. The beggar is seated, wearing a red loincloth and carrying a crutch. In the background are the walls of the city of Amiens.

The abbey church of Saint Georges-de-Boscherville also houses a 1914 statue of Saint Martin the bishop. This statue is located to the right of the church entrance and Saint Martin is depicted mitred, bearded, holding a book in his right hand. The statue is signed « La statue religieuse Paris ». On the base is written « IN HONOREM B. MARTINI EPISC. LOCI HUJUS PATRONI PER PAROCHIALEM COLLECTAM ANNO MDCCCCXIV ».
