L’église Saint-Martin de Worms est une basilique à trois nefs située dans le nord de la ville. Worms est connue pour être la ville où Martin, encore soldat, veut quitter l’armée expliquant qu’il désire suivre le Christ et ne peut plus combattre. Mis en prison durant la nuit, il est envoyé sur le front seul et sans arme, mais les troupes ennemies a fui. Il est donc libéré et peut partir à Poitiers rejoindre Hilaire (Sulpice Sévère, Vita Martini, IV). L’église de Worms se situerait là où se dressait la prison. L’édifice actuel est une reconstruction du XVIIe siècle, l’ancien bâtiment ayant disparu dans un incendie. Le pilier sud de la nef devant le chœur a une statue polychrome de la charité de saint Martin.

The church of St. Martin in Worms is a three-aisled basilica in the north of the city. Worms is known as the town where Martin, still a soldier, wanted to leave the army, explaining that he wanted to follow Christ and could no longer fight. Put in prison overnight, he is sent to the front alone and unarmed, but the enemy troops have fled. He is therefore released and can go to Poitiers to join Hilaire. The church in Worms is said to be located where the prison once stood. The present building is a reconstruction from the 17th century, as the old building was destroyed by fire. The southern pillar of the nave in front of the choir has a polychrome statue of the charity of St. Martin.
