L’église fut fondée au XIVème siècle, elle fut à plusieurs reprises reconstruite (dans le style baroque). Au XVIIIème siècle, la façade fut entièrement refaite . L’intérieur de style baroque fut entièrement détruit pendant la seconde guerre mondiale et ne fut jamais réaménagé. L’église actuelle a servi de salle de réunion pour les partis d’opposition pendant les années de lutte contre le régime communiste.

The church was founded in the 14th century and was rebuilt several times (in the baroque style). In the 18th century, the façade was completely rebuilt. The baroque interior was completely destroyed during the Second World War and was never refurbished. The present church was used as a meeting hall for opposition parties during the years of struggle against the communist regime.
