L’église Saint-Martin de Madrid est située dans la rue del Desengaño, surplombant la Plaza de Santa María de Soledad Torres Acosta. C’est à l’origine l’église d’un monastère bénédictin fondé au XIIe siècle. Mais l’ensemble a été démoli au début du XIXe siècle sous le règne de Joseph Ier Bonaparte. Le bâtiment actuel date de 1836, construit à la place du couvent de Portacoeli de la Congrégation des Clercs Réguliers Mineurs, fondée en 1648, en face du monastère bénédictin ( (les deux avaient fusionnés en 1809).

The Church of San Martin de Madrid is located on Calle del Desengaño, overlooking the Plaza de Santa María de Soledad Torres Acosta. It was originally the church of a Benedictine monastery founded in the 12th century. However, the complex was demolished in the early 19th century during the reign of Joseph I Bonaparte. The current building dates from 1836, built on the site of the Portacoeli convent of the Congregation of Clerics Regular Minor, founded in 1648, opposite the Benedictine monastery (the two had merged in 1809).
