L’église Saint-Martin se trouve sur la route des Mousseaux, au sud de Jouars-Pontchartrain, à proximité du chemin de la Fontaine Saint-Martin. Elle est construite au XIIe et XIIIe siècle. La nef a trois travées et le chœur en a deux. L’ensemble est voûtée d’ogives.

Le clocher en bulbe est érigé au XVIIe siècle, remplaçant l’ancien clocher frappé par la foudre. Il a été construit par François Romain, bénédictin ingénieur et architecte.

L’église Saint-Martin conserve un retable de 1741, offert par Jérôme de Pontchartrain. Au centre se trouve un tableau figurant saint Martin. La plupart du mobilier a disparu durant la Révolution française, moment où l’église est devenue temple de la Raison.

L’église Saint-Martin jouxte le cimetière de la ville. Elle est inscrite aux Monuments historiques le 11 mars 2003. PA78000016

The Saint-Martin church is on the Mousseaux road, south of Jouars-Pontchartrain, near the « Chemin de la Fontaine Saint-Martin ». It was built in the 12th and 13th centuries. The nave has three bays and the choir has two. The whole is vaulted with warheads.
The bulbous bell tower was erected in the 17th century, replacing the old bell tower struck by lightning. It was built by François Romain, a Benedictine engineer and architect.
The Saint-Martin church retains an altarpiece from 1741, donated by Jérôme de Pontchartrain. In the center is a painting depicting Saint Martin. Most of the furniture disappeared during the French Revolution, when the church became a temple of Reason.
The Saint-Martin church adjoins the town cemetery. It is listed as a Historic Monument on March 11, 2003. PA78000016
