L’église Saint-Martin de Gy-en-Sologne est une construction du XIe siècle. Elle a subi d’importantes transformations au XVIe siècle et le clocher et le porche ont été ajoutés au XIXe siècle.

Le maître-autel de l’église abrite une statue figurant saint Martin en évêque, disposée dans une niche de gauche, ainsi qu’une charité de saint Martin de la deuxième moitié du XVIe siècle, où saint Martin est à cheval, vêtu en habit de l’époque moderne, en train de couper son manteau. Il est écrit « St MARTIN » sur le socle de chacune de ces statues.

 

 

The church of Saint-Martin in Gy-en-Sologne is an 11th century building. It underwent major alterations in the 16th century and the bell tower and porch were added in the 19th century.

The high altar of the church houses a statue of St Martin as a bishop in a niche on the left, and a charity of St Martin from the second half of the 16th century, in which St Martin is on horseback, dressed in modern clothes, cutting off his coat. The base of each of these statues bears the inscription « St. Martin ».
