Une chapelle est construite à Gentelles au début du XIIIe siècle. Elle est agrandie et devient une église au siècle suivant. Elle est détruite avec l’intégralité du village durant la Première Guerre mondiale au cours de la Bataille du Kaiser, en 1918.

L’église Saint-Martin est reconstruite durant l’entre-deux-guerres par l’architecte Jacques Debat-Ponsant, en briques, sur un plan basilical, sans transept. La nef a cinq travées et le chœur est en abside. L’église s’ouvre par un clocher-porche massif, couvert d’un toit en pointe en ardoise.

A chapel was built in Gentelles in the early 13th century. It was enlarged and became a church in the following century. It was destroyed with the entire village during the First World War in the Battle of the Kaiser in 1918.
The church of Saint Martin was rebuilt between the wars by the architect Jacques Debat-Ponsant, in brick, on a basilica plan, without a transept. The nave has five bays and the choir is an apse. The church opens with a massive bell tower-porch, covered with a slate roof.
