Au VIIe ou au VIIIe siècle, saint Wulmer fonde une première abbaye. Celle-ci est détruite par les Normands au IXe siècle. Une autre abbaye est construite au XIIe siècle mais est abandonnée lors de la Révolution française.

Une chapelle est construite à côté de l’abbaye au XIIe siècle, correspondant au chœur de l’actuelle église. Celui-ci est agrandi au XVe siècle dans le style gothique flamboyant, en remployant les colonnes romanes. L’église est détruite au XVIe siècle et reconstruite au XVIIe siècle. De nouveau endommagée durant la Révolution française, elle est encore restaurée au XIXe siècle.

In the 7th or 8th century, Saint Wulmer founded the first abbey. This was destroyed by the Normans in the 9th century. Another abbey was built in the 12th century but was abandoned during the French Revolution.

A chapel was built next to the abbey in the 12th century, corresponding to the choir of the present church. This was enlarged in the 15th century in the flamboyant Gothic style, replacing the Romanesque columns. The church was destroyed in the 16th century and rebuilt in the 17th century. Damaged again during the French Revolution, it was restored again in the 19th century.

The church of Saint-Martin was listed as a historical monument on 10 June 1926. PA00108427
