Une première église Saint-Martin de Roubaix aurait existé au IXe siècle, mais elle n’est attestée qu’en 1169. Détruite, l’actuelle église Saint-Martin est construite au XVe siècle, même si elle a profondément été remaniée entre 1848 et 1859 par l’architecte Charles Leroy, ne laissant que la tour de façade et quelques colonnes de la nef de l’édifice du XVe siècle. Deux nefs sont ajoutées et la façade est reconstruite, le tout dans le style néo-gothique.

The first church of Saint-Martin in Roubaix is said to have existed in the 9th century, but it is only attested to in 1169. The present-day Saint-Martin church was built in the 15th century, although it was extensively remodelled between 1848 and 1859 by the architect Charles Leroy, leaving only the façade tower and a few columns of the 15th-century nave. Two naves were added and the façade was rebuilt, all in the neo-Gothic style.
