Au XIXe siècle, le faubourg Saint-Martin, au sud de Saint-Quentin, est dépourvu d’église. Il est alors décidé d’en construire une, à la demande du chanoine Dehon, sur les plans de l’architecte Pierre Bénard, dans le style néo-gothique. Mais cette église est détruite durant la Première Guerre mondiale. Elle est reconstruite dans le style art-déco en 1929 par A. Vapillon.

In the 19th century, the faubourg Saint-Martin, south of Saint-Quentin, had no church. It was then decided to build one, at the request of Canon Dehon, on the plans of the architect Pierre Bénard, in the neo-Gothic style. But this church was destroyed during the First World War. It was rebuilt in the art-deco style in 1929 by A. Vapillon.
