L’église Saint-Martin de Sillegny est édifiée au XVe siècle dans le style gothique flamboyant. La tour du clocher est rasée au XVIe siècle et reconstruite au XIXe siècle.

L’église abrite des fresques anonymes du XVIe siècle, sans doute peintes en 1540, grâce auxquelles elle reçoit le surnom de « Sixtine de la Seille ». Elles figurent en cinquante tableaux des scènes de l’Ancien et du Nouveau Testament, et avaient été recouvertes d’un badigeon et n’ont été redécouvertes qu’en 1845 par l’abbé Schnabel, curé de la paroisse entre 1840 et 1891, puis restaurées par le peintre Malardot pendant vingt ans. Les bombardements américains de 1944 détruisent le clocher et entament les fresques. Elles ont été entièrement nettoyées et restaurées entre janvier 2002 et décembre 2004.

The Saint-Martin de Sillegny church was built in the 15th century in the flamboyant Gothic style. The bell tower was razed in the 16th century and rebuilt in the 19th century.

The church houses anonymous frescoes from the 16th century, probably painted in 1540, thanks to which it receives the nickname « Sixtine de la Seille ». They appear in fifty paintings of scenes from the Old and New Testaments, and had been covered with whitewash and were only rediscovered in 1845 by Abbot Schnabel, parish priest between 1840 and 1891, then restored by the painter Malardot for twenty years. The American bombings of 1944 destroyed the bell tower and damaged the frescoes. They were completely cleaned and restored between January 2002 and December 2004.

The church is classified as a Historic Monument by decree of May 9, 1881 : PA00107006
