L’église Saint-Martin de La Roche-Clermault a été construite au XIIe siècle, remaniée et agrandie aux XIIIe et XVe siècles. l’église est en calcaire et pierre de taille, sa couverture est en ardoise. Son plan est allongé, l’église est en mauvais état. Elle possède un vitrail représentant la Charité de saint Martin et la Messe du globe de feu. Une statue de saint Martin se trouve en dessous du maître autel de l’église. Une galerie latérale est accolée aux façades nord et ouest de l’église. Classée en Monument Historique le 9 novembre 1985 après une inscription annulée le 13 novembre 1939 PA00098040
L’église abrite un vitrail présentant dans sa partie inférieure la Charité et la Messe du Globe de feu, au dessus l’une de l’autre. Chacune des scène est représentée dans un cercle. La scène de Charité présente saint Martin à cheval coupe sa chlamyde en deux pour la donnée à un pauvre, qui tend les mains pour recevoir la partie offerte. Dans la Messe du Globe de feu, saint Martin en évêque, prie devant l’autel. Deux frères, derrière lui, portent la crosse de l’évêque.
Une statue de saint Martin se trouve dans une niche à gauche de l’autel. La statue de saint Martin en évêque, porte un livre dans la main droite, sa crosse d’évêque dans la gauche. Elle se trouve en dessous du maître autel de l’église. En dessous de la statue, une inscription précise qu’il s’agit bien de saint Martin puisqu’il est écrit « sanctus Martinus ». De l’autre côté de l’autel se trouve une statue représentant saint Maurice.
The church of Saint-Martin de La Roche-Clermault was built in the 12th century, reworked and enlarged in the 13th and 15th centuries. The church is made of limestone and ashlar, its roof is made of slate. Its plan is elongated and the church is in poor condition. It has a stained glass window representing the Charity of Saint Martin and the Mass of the globe of fire. A statue of St. Martin is located below the main altar of the church. A side gallery is attached to the north and west facades of the church. Classified as a Historic Monument on 9 November 1985 after an inscription cancelled on 13 November 1939 PA00098040
The church has a stained glass window showing Charity and the Mass of the Globe of Fire in the lower part, above each other. Each scene is depicted in a circle. The Charity scene shows St Martin on horseback cutting his chlamydia in half to give it to a poor man, who holds out his hands to receive the offered part. In the Mass of the Globe of Fire, St. Martin as a bishop prays before the altar. Two brothers, behind him, carry the bishop’s crook.
A statue of St Martin is in a niche to the left of the altar. The statue of St. Martin as a bishop carries a book in his right hand and his bishop’s crook in his left. It is located below the main altar of the church. Below the statue, an inscription states that it is indeed St. Martin, as it reads « sanctus Martinus ». On the other side of the altar is a statue of St. Maurice.
