Une mosaïque réalisée par Giuseppe Devers (1823-1882) occupe une niche en plein cintre, encadrée par deux pinacles surmontés d’une pomme de pin, au-dessus de la porte d’entrée de la tour carrée du château de Candé à Monts. Elle est réalisée à l’aide de cinq carreaux rectangulaires en faïence, la scène représente saint Martin à cheval, auréolé, coupant son manteau pour en offrir la moitié à un pauvre homme assis sur le sol, le tout sur fond bleu. En arrière plan, on distingue un autre personnage, auréolé, portant un ruban avec des inscriptions latines. La mosaïque fut exécutée pour rappeler que selon la tradition saint Martin aurait béni la source du ruisseau Saint Laurent qui traverse le parc.

Par ailleurs, une chapelle Saint-Martin est aménagée dans le parc du château.

 

A mosaic by Giuseppe Devers (1823-1882) occupies a semicircular niche, framed by two pinnacles surmounted by a pine cone, above the entrance door to the square tower of the Château de Candé in Monts. The scene depicts Saint Martin on horseback, haloed, cutting off his cloak to offer half of it to a poor man sitting on the ground, all against a blue background. In the background is another figure, with a halo, wearing a ribbon with Latin inscriptions. The mosaic was made to remind us that, according to tradition, Saint Martin blessed the source of the Saint Laurent stream which runs through the park.

In addition, there is a chapel of Saint Martin in the park of the castle.
