L’église Saint-Martin de Sonvico est située à l’écart du village de Sonvico, sur le versant sud-ouest du Monte Roveraccio. Elle est mentionnée pour la première fois dans des documents datés de 1146, mais des fouilles archéologiques ont établi l’existence d’une église en bois au VIIe siècle et d’un bâtiment maçonné au VIIIe siècle. L’édifice actuel est de style roman, de la première moitié du XIe siècle.

The church of Saint-Martin de Sonvico is located on the outskirts of the village of Sonvico, on the south-western slopes of Monte Roveraccio. It is first mentioned in documents dated 1146, but archaeological excavations have established the existence of a wooden church in the 7th century and a masonry building in the 8th century. The current building is Romanesque, dating from the first half of the 11th century.
