Une première église Saint-Martin est construite dans le quartier d’Avesa, à Vérone, au VIIIe siècle. Un monastère de femmes y est établi au XIIIe siècle mais le monastère et la chapelle sont démoli en 1518 à des fins militaires. L’église est reconstruite à la fin du XVIIIe siècle.

L’édifice est composé d’une nef unique. Le plafond est décoré une fresque de la charité de saint Martin peinte par Guido Trentini (1889-1975).  La façade abrite un médaillon dans lequel nous voyons une charité de saint Martin en bas-relief.

   

The first church of St Martin was built in the Avesa district of Verona in the 8th century. A women’s monastery was established there in the 13th century, but the monastery and chapel were demolished in 1518 for military purposes. The church was rebuilt at the end of the 18th century.

The building consists of a single nave. The ceiling is decorated with a fresco of the charity of Saint Martin painted by Guido Trentini (1889-1975). On the façade there is a medallion in which we can see the charity of Saint Martin in bas-relief.
