L’église Saint-Martin de Saint-Martin d’Ary est construite au bord de la rivière Lary. Ancien prieuré-cure du XIIe siècle dépendant de l’abbaye Notre-Dame de Guîtres (Gironde), l’église est construite dans le style roman. Elle a une façade à trois étages, comme on le retrouve souvent en Saintonge, et est bâtie sur une plan avec une nef unique se terminant par un chœur en une abside, sans transept.

La cloche de l’église, située dans le clocher ajouré, en bronze et datant de 1668, est classée au Monuments historiques au titre d’objet depuis le 30 septembre 1911 PM17000416. Il y est inscrit IE SUIS FAICTE POUR LE SERVICE DE LA PAROISSE DE ST MARTIN D’ARY L’AN 1668.

The Saint-Martin de Saint-Martin d’Ary church is built on the banks of the Lary river. Former priory-cure of the 12th century depending on the abbey of Notre-Dame de Guîtres (Gironde), the church is built in the Romanesque style. It has a three-storey facade, as is often found in Saintonge, and is built on a plan with a single nave ending in a chancel in an apse, without transept.

The bell of the church, located in the perforated bell tower, in bronze and dating from 1668, is classified as a Historic Monument as an object since September 30, 1911. PM17000416. It is registered there IE SUIS FAICTE POUR LE SERVICE DE LA PAROISSE DE ST MARTIN D’ARY L’AN 1668.
