L’église Saint-Martin de Ligré appartenait au XIIè siècle à l’abbaye de Cormery. L’église fut remaniée au XVè siècle et en partie détruite par un incendie le 2 août 1876. La nef actuelle est une reconstruction due à l’incendie, mais le reste de l’édifice appartient à l‘église primitive. Le clocher en pierre des XIIè et XVè siècle est entouré de pinacles d’angle.
A l’exception de la nef, l’ église est inscrite sur la lite des Monuments Historiques par arrêté du 18 juin 1962. PA00097809
Une sculpture de la charité de saint Martin se trouve sur le devant de l’autel de l’église. C’est un bas-relief situé entre deux autres sculptures. Saint Martin est présenté en soldat romain, coupant son manteau en deux. Le pauvre, assis par terre tient dans sa main un morceau de la chlamyde. La sculpture possède de nombreux détails. Au dessus de la charité, est inscrit : « Sanctus Martinus ».
Un vitrail est situé dans le chœur de l’église. Il a été offert à la paroisse par Monsieur Champigny-Larmaque et a été réalisé à Tours en 1880 par Lucien-Léopold Lobin. Il présente saint Martin en évêque, nimbé et mitré, portant une chasuble rouge et une aube blanche. Il tient sa crosse dans la main gauche et une église dans la main droite. Dans le registre inférieur est présentée une charité de saint Martin. Dans cette scène, saint Martin ressemble plus à un chevalier du moyen âge qu’à un cavalier romain ; il est nimbé. Il coupe son manteau pour le partager avec un pauvre. Le pauvre est assis, il tend la main vers saint Martin. en arrière plan, on peut distinguer une enceinte, celle de la ville d’Amiens. Entre les deux représentations de saint Martin est écrit : SANCTUS MARTINUS.
The church of Saint-Martin de Ligré belonged in the 12th century to the abbey of Cormery. The church was altered in the 15th century and partly destroyed by fire on 2 August 1876. The present nave is a reconstruction due to the fire, but the rest of the building belongs to the original church. The 12th and 15th century stone bell tower is surrounded by corner pinnacles.
With the exception of the nave, the church is listed as a Historic Monument by decree of 18 June 1962. PA00097809
A sculpture of the charity of Saint Martin is located on the front of the altar of the church. It is a bas-relief situated between two other sculptures. Saint Martin is shown as a Roman soldier, cutting his cloak in half. The poor man is sitting on the ground and holding a piece of the chlamydia in his hand. The sculpture has many details. Above the charity is inscribed: « Sanctus Martinus ».
A stained glass window is located in the choir of the church. It was offered to the parish by Mr Champigny-Larmaque and was made in Tours in 1880 by Lucien-Léopold Lobin. It shows Saint Martin as a bishop, nimbed and mitred, wearing a red chasuble and a white alb. He holds his crosier in his left hand and a church in his right. In the lower register is a charity of St. Martin. In this scene, St Martin looks more like a medieval knight than a Roman horseman; he is nimbed. He cuts off his cloak to share it with a poor man. The poor man is sitting down and reaching out to Saint Martin. In the background, we can make out an enclosure, that of the city of Amiens. Between the two representations of Saint Martin is written: SANCTUS MARTINUS.
